Following the guidelines established by BerkeleyFireSafe.org, we will help you prepare your property to comply with recent changes to fire safety regulations. Starting with vegetation and tree clearance / removal to establish Zone 0 compliance, we help create defensible space for Zones 1 and 2 as defined by BerkeleyFireSafe.org. We also partner with Shearman Builders in providing regular Zone 0 maintenance.
In construction, we are phasing out more flammable materials and are shifting towards metal or Hardie Board fences and gates (Sleekfence, Neweurofences, Alumission), metal and clad timber for structural components (Knotwood, Armorbuilt), and metal or hardwood decking (Moso Thermo Bamboo, Knotwood, Thermory, Ipe). We create ember resistance by applying Wildfire Defense Mesh under decks and stairs.
In planting, we follow the recommendations found at Marin Master Gardeners.
Mulch in Zone 0 is replaced by pebbles or crushed granite.
